Maria Kostova has a Master’s degree in Classics (1971), a Master’s degree in Law (1981), a PhD degree in Classical Languages (Latin, 1987). Associate Professor (2001) and Professor (2010) of Latin. Teaching experience includes lectures in Latin and institutional culture in Antiquity, Latin legal terms, the law in Roman literature. Research interests focus on the interdisciplinary area of classics and Roman law, linguistic culture, and translation from Latin. Specialised in Latin legal terminology at the Roman Law Institute of La Sapienza University in Rome and took part in research forums on Roman history and law (Rome, Moscow, Sofia, Fribourg). Teaching experience includes lecture courses in legal Latin and Roman law at Chernorizets Hrabar Free University of Varna, lecture courses in Latin at Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv.
